I was born in a family with really devastating eating habits. It was all about quantity and sugar. There were no rules in regard to food and hence, as a small kid, I grew up eating pizza and fries on a daily basis while having exposure to tons of sugar.
As a small kid, I had no idea what happened to me. I did a lot of sports (e.g., running and playing football) so I didn’t gain weight. The problem was not the weight, but the physiological damage introduced by living in such a way reaching the teenage phase.
The teenage phase
As I was eating a lot of bad food, playing a lot of Age of Empires II and barely having any social activities, I grew into a very shy person who was extremely uncomfortable being exposed to the world, especially women.
My confidence level was extremely low and I didn’t have any energy to do anything in life. I felt like a zombie.
Hope & Fallbacks
When moving out of my parents’ house in 2010, I was able to modify my eating habits as I was now responsible for preparing the food myself. I was temporarily able to dedicate myself eating healthier for a couple of months and managed to start working out as well. However, that didn’t last too long as the old patterns remained within and dragged me back to the bad eating habits.
Throughout the time-span of 2010 until 2019, I went through a lot of negative and positive changes regarding my eating habits which was extremely draining.
In 2019, I finally managed to change my eating habits in a way that I could keep with a healthy diet without having the urge for sugar on mass. I still felt issues with my energy level at that point after eating, though.
Beginning of 2021, I made an experiment. I tried to live fully vegan for one month as I saw mind-blowing documentaries. After, I decided to continue as I really enjoyed living that way. To this day, I still live plant-based and I couldn’t be happier with my diet. I don’t have any fear of falling back to my old patterns as I have managed to build myself enough alternatives throughout all those years that work for me.
Due to the diet changes, I feel so much more energetic, cleaner and healthier. I am able to perform on a very high level in every aspect of my life, especially in sports and in Age of Empires II.
